Welcome!

Welcome to Devillicious' Randomness, a blog where I talk about whatever I feel like talking about.

Just a few things you ought to note when reading my blog: I've tagged my posts so if you want to read about my thoughts on current events, look under the tag "seriousness" or if you want to check out what I've been watching, look under the tags "KDrama", "JDrama", and "TWDrama". Music will be listed in the like manner: "KPop", "JRock", . . . You get the drift ;)

Spoilers to movies or TV shows/dramas will be shown as: [BEGIN SPOILER ALERT!] Text goes here [END SPOILER ALERT!] Highlight the part in between the the beginning and the ending of the spoiler alert (in this example, it's where it says, "Text goes here") as the font will be highlighted with black.

Olympics Day 14

I have quite a few dramas & movies that I want to add my reviews/ratings on here but haven't gotten around to it yet.

In case you haven't noticed, I've changed my display name from Devillicious to my real name. This is because I'm admin of another blog & because the people there know me in real life so I would prefer to use my real name. I wish Blogger would allow users to choose different display names for each blog they are authors or admins for. It would be so much nicer.

Anyway, the real reason I'm posting is because of the Olympics. Since I'm Canadian, I'm rooting for Canada.

As of today (Day 14) the medal standings are:
(Gold/Silver/Bronze/Country)
7 9 12 United States
7 10 7 Germany
6 6 6 Norway
7 6 2 Canada

Plus, the Canadian hockey team defeated Russia 7-3.
GO! CANADA! GO!

As an added feature, I decided to put my Plurk widget in the right so you can see what's going on in my everyday life & other random things I Plurk :D

That's it for now.

G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra - 3 Stars

I watched G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra last Saturday.

I wrote my review on IMDB.com in this thread.

My review is below miamiloverg's message since I replied to it.

Trair actually made the movie look aight... In my opinion I thought, "Hey, at the very least it will be entertaining... and in many way it was." I was crackin up like crazy... it was hilarious: the cheesy one-liners, horrible effects circa 1980, and not to mention the crazy all over the place story line. Hopefully this movie will make some money so that if they MUST do a sequal at least the effects will be 21st century quality.

It is so sad that this movie happened to a great group of actors...

@ miamiloverg - You took the words right out of my mouth. My younger siblings and I were going to see it in the theatres until my dad said it sucked (his tastes in movies are often the same as ours) so we waited until the DVD release. We watched it this evening. No surprise that my nephews and my brother-in-law liked it. I was bored many times and caught myself daydreaming through ACTION scenes. Who daydreams through action scenes?! That's a first for me.

At first, my siblings and I would make sounds or grin at the lame dialogue. However, halfway through the movie (either because it was getting worse or because we knew it wasn't going to get any better), we started laughing out loud and commenting on the different parts.

There was no depth to the characters, lots of confusing/off the wall action, horrible and corny dialogue, lame effects, and gee, the doctor was a bad guy?! No way! With those looks and that maniacal laugh near the end (that cracked us all up) I would've never guessed.

The main reason why I wanted to see it was because one of my favorite Korean actors (Lee Byun-Hun) played Storm Shadow in it. If you've seen IRIS or A Bittersweet Life, you'd see why I like him so much. His fighting and acting is superb but G.I. Joe gave him a lousy script and character to work with so nobody got to see the real Byun-hun in action. - And WHY in the heck did his shirt get ripped off?

That is all.

Storm Shadow (Arashikage)

One thing I didn't mention was the fact that ninja are Japanese, right? Last I checked, Byung-Hun was Korean. Not like I cared that much. However, when Storm Shadow (Byung-Hun) was a child in Tokyo, he spoke KOREAN! The kid who played Storm Shadow as a child was Korean too but still... Why would a ninja speak Korean? Meh, just thought I'd mention that. I found it more amusing than annoying. Probably because the whole movie was a joke.

Just for the heck of it, I checked up "ninja" on Dictionary.com and here is the result:

nin⋅ja

[nin-juh]

–noun, plural -ja, -jas. (often initial capital letter) a member of a feudal Japanese society of mercenary agents, highly trained in martial arts and stealth (ninjutsu), who were hired for covert purposes ranging from espionage to sabotage and assassination.

My rating: 3/10

Synopsis

From the Egyptian desert to deep below the polar ice caps, the elite G.I. JOE team uses the latest in next-generation spy and military equipment to fight the corrupt arms dealer Destro and the growing threat of the mysterious Cobra organization to prevent them from plunging the world into chaos.

That's the best synopsis I could find. It's not worth me searching any longer.

Smile - 8.5 Stars

Yesterday I finished watching the JDrama, Smile.

I really enjoyed watching this drama. Yui-chan was cute as usual and MatsuJun was superb as a kind person (as opposed to his mean-ish personality on Hana Yori Dango). The only problem I had with MatsuJun's performance was his crying. It was kind of irritating. I didn't hate it but I definitely didn't like it as it distracted from the sadness of the scenes. Other than that, he did a very good job. However, my favorite performance was Oguri Shun's. He is now one of my favorite bad guys! [BEGIN SPOILER ALERT!] The way he died was freaky but excellent! [END SPOILER ALERT!]

My rating: 8.5/10
